Spring ensembles / 1

As the weather warms up, I'm putting together some ensembles for spring based on clothing I own. I'm hoping this will help to keep shopping at a minimum, as well as help me be creative about combining different pieces.

This is the first in the series. I think these pants and shirt will be in heavy rotation this spring. They are both comfortable and can be paired with most things. The shirt can be worn on its own as I did here, or as a light jacket over a tank or tee. I also love these pants I got on a trip to Seoul two years ago. The length and fit are perfect, and the white color adds a dressed up feeling to the outfit.

What items in your closet do you anticipate will get a lot of wear this spring?

  1. Pret a Porter P: LOL, I can see how that would get you excited. As much as I tend to complain about cold weather (I'm so weak when it comes to cold as an LA native), I do enjoy transitioning to various weather appropriate clothing through the seasons.

  2. Such a simple, elegant look. I love my Clare Vivier custom-made clutch too :)
My summer wardrobe will likely include my Kain silk-blend tees, a few embroidered Indian cotton tunics, a couple of loose cotton dresses, black denim shorts and three pairs of custom-made tapered trousers with silk cuffs. All worn with either flat Greek sandals, embroidered Indian shoes called mojris, or black Marc Jacobs. And I hope to get a lot of wear out of two recent purchases - a multi-coloured resin necklace and a vintage Chanel pearl necklace.

  4. The denim shirt has never been one of my favourite items, but this one is beautiful. And so is the clutch. :)

  5. Ammu: your summer wardrobe sounds amazing - comfortable and unique. I had a pair of flat leather sandals that I bought on a trip to Mexico in college that I later got rid of. I'm really regretting that now.

Thea vintage: thanks! I hadn't been using the clutch a lot, but after taking it on my trip to LA a few weeks ago I feel like I've rediscovered it.

Ada: I had a shirt just like this way back in high school from the gap that I stole from my dad. I used to wear it really baggy, so it was fun to get this one and realize it still works for me.

    1. I do love my wardrobe - but it's taken patience to get here :) Lots of mistakes in the early years and a commitment to culling.
Regarding the Indian shoes, it actually took a visiting friend from London to open my eyes to the possibility of wearing them with non-Indian clothing. She picked up a pair and wore them throughout her trip, with button-downs and summer trousers. She looked amazing so I took inspiration from her. The best thing about these shoes is the softness of the leather - they are handmade and are just so malleable.

    2. Very cool that you discovered the Indian shoes in a new way through your visiting friend. Sometimes it's takes outside inspiration to see something in a new light - that's been true for me as I've been finding ways to wear things of mine through inspiration online, and it's been quite refreshing. And btw, those shoes sound amazing.

  6. Oh I love how you wore the pieces. The colours look refreshing and I am particularly drawn to the pale blue shirt. I am a thing for washed anaemic colours.

One of my favourite outfit for Spring (although I live in the tropics..haha) is a chambray dress and white converse.
